The oldest and largest university in Salzburg is the Paris-Lodron-University, which was founded in 1622. The Mozarteum University, the world-renowned school of music and arts, attracts students from all over the world to study in Salzburg. A number of private colleges and universities also expand the educational spectrum of Salzburg.
With more than 16,500 students and 2,700 employees in research, development, teaching and administration, the Paris-Lodron-University is the largest educational institution in the city of Salzburg. Its four faculties meet the highest standards in teaching and research:

The Mozarteum University in Salzburg
The Mozarteum University offers more than 40 artistic and educational courses in the fields of music, performing and visual arts. 1,500 young artists from around the world gain comprehensive training here in all instruments, composition, conducting, singing, musical theatre, acting, directing, set design, music and dance, as well as arts and craft-pedagogy.

The Paracelsus Medical University is Austria's first and Europe's second medical university in private ownership, which offering degrees in medicine.
