The ‘International Congress & Convention Association’ (ICCA) chose the city of Mozart as the venue for its major customer workshop.
Salzburg Convention Bureau has accomplished a remarkable promotional achievement and, having shown great initiative in contacting the ‘International Congress & Convention Association’ (ICCA) based in Amsterdam, this organisation chose the city of Mozart as the venue for its major customer workshop.
During the 3-day networking event staged at Salzburg Congress, 14 European congress organisers and just as many convention offices came from 10 different countries to visit locations like St. Peter Stiftskulinarium restaurant, and the Stieglkeller restaurant and beer gardens.
“We are absolutely delighted to have been selected to host the fourth edition of this workshop”, enthused Gernot Marx, CEO at Salzburg Convention Bureau (SCB). "Associations, societies and ICCA members came from several countries, including Spain, France, Great Britain, Finland, Turkey and the Netherlands, and were thrilled by the wealth of infrastructure available for all sizes of events. It was another perfect opportunity for us to show the best of what Salzburg has to offer.”
“Salzburg is a great destination for us because it offers a broad range of venue options within a limited space - and all within walking distance – such as hotels, congress centres and locations for galas. Moreover, the city is also rich in history and personality. It certainly isn’t just another conference destination”, summarised Carla Preevo of the Netherlands, Senior Operations Manager at ATPI, an event agency that staged a major conference for the European Space Agency (ESA) in Salzburg just last year.
The ICCA gathering in Salzburg was held in cooperation with the International Congress & Convention Association. The ICCA is the international umbrella organisation for the congress industry. Around 30 guests came to the event. They were accommodated in the Sheraton Grand Hotel Salzburg and were officially welcomed by Deputy Mayoress Anja Hagenauer in the marble hall at Mirabell Palace. During the workshop programme participants also found time for a stroll along Getreidegasse lane, around Mirabell park gardens, for a trip up to Fortress Hohensalzburg, to the DomQuartier cathedral rooms, and for a backstage tour of the festival halls.
