Salzburger Freilichtmuseum in Großgmain

The museum is situated about 10 km southwest of the city of Salzburg in a natural park at the foot of the Untersberg. Comprised of over 50 different rustic buildings on an area stretching over 50 hectares, it is one of the largest museums of its kind.

The old buildings, ranging from barns, mills and sawmills to impressive farms and farmhouses, were disassembled from their original locations and reassembled at the Open Air Museum. Furniture and equipment as well as countless housefold utensils are on display inside the buildings. Moving from one building to the next, visitors will pass chaples, wayside shrines, crosses and country gardens, imparting an imoressive image of ancient village life.

Participants will be able to take an exclusive tour of the old village smithy, demonstrating how everything was forged by hand in the olden days.

Length of the tour: approx. 3 hours
