A Musical Stronghold

The Getreidegasse is a place of interest for musicians from all over the world who come her to pay their respects to world's greatest musical genius, and to visit house number 9 on the third floor of the house in which Wolfgang Amdeus Mozart was born on the 27th January 1756.
The Salzburg Summer Festival was founded in 1920 and is a very important event in the arts calendar. As every year in August it attracts the international crème of the music, theatre and performing arts to the city on the Salzach.
The centre of attention is claimed by the open air performance of the "Everyman" in front of the impressive facade of the Salzburg dome church. And that's not all; Salzburg also hosts the Easter festival, founded by the Salzburg born, musical maestro, Herbert von Karajan. To the delight of baroque music tradition established with Mozart has been upheld at the highest standards by the Mozarteum, Salzburg's college for music and performing arts, for over 160 years. Salzburg provides a comprehensive range of cultural events and facilities which bears international comparison, with 600 facilities for cultural nedds and arround 4000 events.
